Thanks Henry, some good advice.

Could you move your comments to the discussion forum please? It is just above this section where Peter and myself posted some information about pitches. Give it a title and then it's in a section where we can discuss your comments.

I will then delete it from the comment section as this is for the pitches only.

And could you give us your pitch? Based on your comments it will be a very valuable contribution to enable us al to et our pitches perfect.

Thanks

Andre

Hi ......... I'm new to C-8 and find it most interesting. .

I'm no expert but I would still like to comment on "The 15/30/60 Second Pitch" as follows: -

In my opnion

1] I agree, the pitch should be as short as possible
2] Surely the pitch is being made because the pitcher wants a result? He doesn't want to be hit out of the grounds, but rather the ball (pitch material) hit back to him. I'll give an example of what in my mind is probably one of the most common pitches in the world ------ you are in a clothing store looking for, say a white shirt ----- and the sales assistant comes up to you and says "Can I help you?" There's a 99.999999999% recurring chance that the answer will be "Just looking". The salesperson might have said (especially if working on commission) is "Hi, my name is Henry ---- if you need any help, just ask". The chances are much better for the sales person.
3] A pitch that does not demand a response is useless.
4] Also a pitch that doesn't produce "a call to action" by the receiver is also pretty useless, unless the pitcher just likes the sound of his own voice. Without any response the pitcher is no wiser (or closer to the goal). And a call to action should NOT BE ONE that makes the receiver say "I'll think about it".
5] So ........ continuing with the short pitch, maybe the pitcher can ask the receiver a question at the end of the pitch that gives the receiver something to work with. If you are a salesperson in a sports shop it's no use trying to sell a pair of swimming goggles to a person who can't swim (bad example but you get the drift).
6] Or if you are trying to sell an appointment to meet, the pitcher must first make sure there is some interest (even the slightest) by the receiver. If there is interest, then this is the time for the pitcher not to say something like this "we must meet sometime" because the answer will probably be 100% YES. Let's go back to the call to action and say "shall we meet later this week or will next week do?" (call to action) If he says next week you could say "how about Monday or would Wednesday suit you better?" (call to action). Answer --- "Monday is fine" ---- "how about 10 am or just after lunch at 2 pm (call to action).
7] No matter how good the pitch is, it might get a negative response. That's good too (or should I say "not always bad"0, because it saves you time and effort and you can move on to the next receiver, and if you can, try to improve the pitch each time.

Pitches like most things in life can never be static - you must change with the circumstances and roll with the punches.

Above all be persistent.

I hope this was of interest and of some value.

Kind regards

Henry Harkcom

I agree with David's comment, Gavin. Your pitch looks much better.

Francois, its a lot better. Your profession is not an easy one to pitch quickly, but it's looking better and better.

I think that once one think you have a good pitch, try it out on the family, other's in your field and friends. Practice also makes perfect.

I will scout around for more articles. I have heard of a 60 second pitch program and will try to find that and post it here.

Hi, I have revamp my pitch a bit to do it in less than 60(51sec) sec, please do give me some feedback if you don't mind. Will be appreciated.

Hi Gavin,

Perhaps insert a line that mentions your experience to show that you are an expert in the field. So the pitch would be to tell what makes you and expert at what you offer and how the client will uniquely benefit from it all.

Hey, I think there is some really useful stuff here, especially the two articles submitted by Peter and Andre. I think I was missing a valuable point made in both articles, ie, asking for an appointment, so have revised my 'spiel' to this.

Hi, my name is Gavin and I specialise in helping people to draft, or revise their Wills and Estates in such a way it guarantees they don't leave a nightmare behind when they pass on. Perhaps I could pop in to show you sometime soon. (whilst handing them my card)

Any comments ?

Great pitch David, the 15 seconds is just to keep it focused, no more than 60 seconds is recommended.
